Fix “No Internet Access” or “Limited Access” Yellow Triangle Error in Windows 7

Seeing the yellow triangle warning on your network icon in Windows 7 with the message “No Internet Access”? This issue is common and can be caused by many reasons such as IP conflicts, router issues, or incorrect network settings.

Follow these step-by-step solutions to fix it.


Common Causes:

  • IP address conflict

  • Wrong DNS settings

  • Router/modem problem

  • Disabled network adapter

  • Malware or firewall issues


Solution 1: Restart Your Modem & Router

  1. Power off your modem and router.

  2. Wait for 1-2 minutes.

  3. Turn on the modem first, wait for 30 seconds, then turn on the router.

  4. Restart your PC.

Check if the internet access is restored.


Solution 2: Renew IP Address

  1. Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter.

  2. Type the following commands one by one:

    ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
  3. Press Enter after each command.

This refreshes your IP configuration.


Solution 3: Reset TCP/IP Stack

Still not working? Try resetting your network stack.

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.

  2. Run the following command:

    netsh int ip reset
  3. Restart your PC.


Solution 4: Set DNS Manually

  1. Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center

  2. Click on your Wi-Fi or LAN connection > Properties

  3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Click Properties

  4. Select Use the following DNS server addresses and enter:

    • Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8

    • Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4

  5. Click OK and restart the connection.


Solution 5: Disable and Re-enable Network Adapter

  1. Press Windows + R, type ncpa.cpl, and press Enter.

  2. Right-click your network adapter > choose Disable

  3. Wait 10 seconds, then right-click and choose Enable


Solution 6: Check Firewall and Antivirus

  • Sometimes antivirus/firewall blocks internet access.

  • Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall and check.

  • If it works, reconfigure your firewall settings.


Solution 7: Scan for Malware

Use Malwarebytes or Windows Defender to perform a full scan.

Malicious programs can modify your network settings and block internet access.
