P-Link TL-WR940N (Wireless N Router) Change DHCP & Address lease time
P-Link TL-WR940N (450Mbps Wireless N Router), here's how to check or change the DHCP Lease Time (Address Lease Time):
🔧 Step-by-Step: Change Address Lease Time on TL-WR940N
🔗 1. Login to Router Admin Panel
-
Open your browser
-
Type in the address bar:
192.168.0.1
(or use
192.168.1.1
if the above doesn't work) -
Login with your router credentials:
-
Default username:
admin
-
Default password:
admin
-
(If you’ve changed them, use your updated login details.)
⚙️ 2. Navigate to DHCP Settings
-
In the left-hand menu, go to:
DHCP > DHCP Settings -
You’ll see a section like this:
lessDHCP Server: Enabled
Start IP Address: 192.168.0.100
End IP Address: 192.168.0.199
Address Lease Time: 120
✏️ 3. Edit Lease Time
-
Change Address Lease Time from
120
to:-
720
for 12 hours -
1440
for 24 hours -
2880
for 48 hours
-
✔️ Recommended: Use 1440
(24 hours) for office or home setups.
⚠️ This value is in minutes.
💾 4. Save Changes
-
Click Save
-
Reboot the router (optional but recommended)
-
Reboot your devices (PC/laptop) to get the new lease
💡 Why Change It?
-
A short lease time like 120 minutes can cause IP conflicts or renewals that break IPv6 routing or DNS temporarily.
-
Increasing it ensures more stable connections, especially for devices that stay on the network long term (PCs, servers, printers).
